Sarah + Nick // ENGAGED! // Salt Spring Island
"I LOVE EVERYTHING about what you are describing about their wedding day...Floral crown station??! Food trucks and multiple live musicians? PINCH. ME. Plus they are the cutest couple ever AND he is holding a lucky. I think we will get along, just fine!" Was my response to Emma McCormick's Creative's email this past April when she was inquiring about wedding photography coverage for Sarah + Nick's backyard wedding. Sarah + Nick did not disappoint. He even brought a lucky.
The first time we met we threw around the idea of a fall getaway to Salt Spring Island to his families homestead for and adventurous engagement session. Malcolm and I made a weekend out of it booking a cozy cabin on Air BnB and exploring the island. (FYI - Salt Spring is so so cute with it's old churches and old halls with painted cedar shakes...if your considering getting married on Old Salty, book it and...call me!). We met up with Sarah + Nick for a beer tasting at Salt Spring Island Brewery and then head out to the farm. Exploring the property with them, hearing the stories of days gone by (they are highschool sweethearts) and their plans for the future (involving travel, their mountain bikes and camper) and then taking their truck to the top of an epic mountain look out were just a few of the many highlights. They were so naturally themselves, and when we ran into a road block on the way up the mountain and Malcolm said "got a saw?" we all jumped out of the truck as the boys took care of a fallen log and rehydrated with a lucky, naturally.
Sarah + Nick invited us to join them for dinner + drinks afterwards at the cozy Salt Spring Inn. Conversation flowed effortlessly and Sarah finally warmed up...I think? Thank you so much for being adventurous with your choice of location and inviting us to this special place. Sarah + Nick are two of the greatest and I can't wait to photograph their wedding next summer!
